Bohemia Artists Festival

Bohemia Artist Festival is an annual celebration presented by Own It SLC that amplifies the voices of artists in recovery through music, spoken word, visual art, and independent film. The festival creates a space where creativity becomes a form of healing and storytelling, highlighting artists who transform lived experience into honest and powerful work.

In past years, Bohemia has featured a diverse range of performers, filmmakers, musicians, and visual artists whose work explores recovery, resilience, and the human experience. Through open submissions and curated showcases, the festival continues to grow a community where emerging artists can share their stories, collaborate, and be recognized for the courage it takes to turn pain into art.

Shows & Events

Over the past decade, Own It SLC has produced a wide range of community-driven shows and creative gatherings that highlight local artists, musicians, filmmakers, and storytellers.

A unique part of the Own It SLC performance process is the creative development that happens long before the stage lights turn on. In the weeks leading up to many of its shows, Own It hosts a 4–6 week writing circle where participating artists gather weekly to develop the pieces they will eventually perform. These small groups provide a dedicated space for musicians, poets, writers, and storytellers to share early drafts, receive thoughtful feedback, and refine their work in a supportive environment that values honesty over perfection.

These circles often become as meaningful as the performances themselves. The consistent rhythm of weekly meetings creates stability and accountability, allowing artists to build trust with one another while returning regularly to the creative process. Many participants describe the groups as both creatively and emotionally therapeutic—spaces where vulnerability is welcomed and where lived experience can be explored safely through art. By the time the final show arrives, the performances are not only polished works but reflections of a shared journey, shaped by weeks of collaboration, courage, and community.
